Holograms and swirl marks: where do they come from?

Holograms and fine circular scratches show up most clearly in sunlight. Most of them come from improper washing.

Where they come from

Automatic car wash brushes, a dirty sponge and a dry towel all leave fine scratches in the clear coat. Over time they add up, and the paint loses its gloss.

• Wash by hand using the two-bucket method.
• Dry with a clean microfiber towel.
• Remove existing scratches with professional polishing.
