Ceramic or wax: what does your car need?

Many drivers think wax and ceramic coating are the same thing. In fact, they differ in durability, level of protection and ease of care.

Wax: a quick shine for a few months

Natural or synthetic wax gives the paint a warm glow, but it lasts only 1–3 months and washes off easily.

Ceramic: protection for years

A nano-ceramic layer bonds chemically with the clear coat and forms a hard surface that water won't cling to. It lasts from 1 to 5 years, depending on the package.

Our recommendation

If you drive every day and want to spend less time on upkeep, choose ceramic. If you need a shine for a single event, wax will do.
